I have been trying to understand what transpired just last week.
A man without a portfolio of accomplishment was summarily leap-frogged over several worthy candidates to receive the highest civilian award in the world, the Nobel Peace Prize. Yes, that's right, a man with nothing palpable in his column of accomplishments has been awarded the Nobel Prize. A man who cannot give a speech in anything resembling an impromptu manner,a man who reads every speech off a teleprompter, off a card,off a monitor. This is a man as practiced as any sports team in the country, as rehearsed as Tiger's notorious back swing.
And he is an empty suit.
Had he accomplished anything before he was nominated for the award, had he even declined the award due to his lacking resume,he would have made a positive out of the entire incident. Instead,he accepted the award while acknowledging that he had done nothing to deserve nomination much less winning the award. In so doing, in being the one politician in the country who could have appeared in public to accept the end result of so obviosly politically motivated process,he has revealed himself to be the shallow,vain,self-serving political grandstander that many had intimated he was. Now, thanks to the man himself,they have their proof. On video,on Youtube,on Network early morning television.
The empty suit was revealed.
What those kind Norwegian Socialist Ideologues voted for wasn't a man, it was an idealized figure , the hoped-for-future embodied by that figure ,and the carrying within him of American acceptance of the establishment of an acceptably leftist Euro-American state. They have awaited this figure with Messianic intensity since the turn of the last century. It came a hundred years late, but to them,it has come,he has come...an American Socialist in the Northern European mold...and wonder of wonders, he's Black,too. Talk about hitting the jackpot!
Taken with the President's obvious and overweening narcissism, it is not difficult to see that he would accept the award. Indeed, it would have far more out of character not to accept an unmerited accolade than do the opposite and accept it. He simply couldn't deny himself an award he thinks he has earned simply by being here. His existence in this position is all the affirmation he needs to feel he has already earned the prize.
So,as far as I can tell, it was less than two weeks after his inauguration that he was able to do all the work required to qualify for and merit winning of the Nobel Prize. Amazing thing that, when you figure that noted dissident Aung San Suu Kyi has yet to win any such international award. Nor did the pair of Chinese Political dissidents, one of whom has served more than 17 years in prison, win out over a State Senator notable mostly for voting "Present", turned undistinguished U.S. Senator notable for having written nothing of note in the way of Federal legislation.vNow he is the President who has given nice speeches and done nothing especially notable about the things referenced in those picturesque speeches.
Again, he is the epitome of the empty suit.
It remains to be seen exactly how serious a personality disorder/deficit this President actually possesses, but the spectacle of the Junior Senator turned accomplishment free Presidential Figurehead accepting an award is all the proof that one might need to see that this is indeed a narcissist of the first order. Also,it shows that he is patently incapable of objectivity in his decision making process: that whatever his personal flaws might be, he deals from the position of the ideologue not the decision maker. His future decisions could be scaled along a line following the teachings of his mentors: Frank Marshall Davis, Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dorn, and a host of others. He is indeed, that empty suit, filled only with the fetid gas of the failed socialist policies and philosophies of his personal counselors and advisers.
Not a single state exists where in these policies have been instituted and the state flourish, including oil rich Venezuela. If not for the oil revenues, Obama's soul-shake buddy Chavez would be leading a state with high gas prices,empty shelves and not enough food. As it is, the Chavistas that Obama sympathizes with so readily can point to low gas prices. Sure, but people can't eat gas, can they? They have empty shelves and not enough food, but gas is cheap. Rather typical of a state run affair, no?
The failings that Obama shows now are not the confident centrist positions he took on the stump.He had to hide his real nature, might not even know his own real nature beyond a certain point. Regardless, his narcissistic nature, constant search for the spotlight and unending politicking for personal advantage are now in full view, and even his sycophantic admirers in the State Controlled Media were emboldened to the point of poking fun at Obama and heaping derision on the decision of the Nobel Prize Committee. That is a first in the history of the President's relationship with the media, and took 9 months. The previous two Presidents were both treated far more harshly, far sooner into their presidencys. Even Saturday Night Live has gotten into the act, albeit in a very soft, decidedly non-aggressive way. Soft peddling indeed.
It remains to be seen how well the narcissist will tolerate this soft core onslaught,and the derision sure to accompany his trip to Norway to accept his unmerited award for his non-accomplishments in office.
The Empty Suit has been seen at last, even by his supporters. What the President does about being that empty suit is up to him, but smart bet would be on him doing much the same as he has for the last decade or so. His is a thin resume, and an indictment of his own shallowness, but it is all he has to offer.
I don't expect that to improve markedly in the near future.
